Bills like Ohio SB 29 offer students very rigorous privacy protections: What are the consequences for AI integration and implementation in today's classrooms?
Interesting read, and encouraging - but I have to ask, wonder how much of this goes away with the new administrations reported distaste for just about any and all regulations in AI (as elsewhere).
This is happening at the state level so the new admin would have to pass sweeping federal regulation to undo states’ prerogatives. Many of this privacy measures are being put forward by conservative state legislatures. There is a larger reckoning unfolding here between user and corporate protections that is hard to anticipate the resolution of. More on that soon.
